Original Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness director Scott Derrickson voices his support for Sam Raimi taking over the MCU movie sequel. Original Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness director Scott Derrickson has voiced his support for Sam Raimi taking over on the MCU movie sequel. Derrickson’s exit from the Phase 4 film last month came as a shock, especially since his efforts on the first Doctor Strange were so well-received. The filmmaker stepped down over creative differences, having previously announced Doctor Strange 2 would be the “first scary MCU film” at San Diego Comic-Con 2019. Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige later said the Doctor Strange sequel is less a horror movie and more a “big MCU film with scary sequences in it”, leading many fans to speculate Derrickson and the studio disagreed over just how far to take the movie’s horror elements. Even after Derrickson’s departure, Marvel is moving full-speed ahead with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, with plans to start filming this May for its release a year later. There was finally an update on the director front last night, when reports broke revealing Sam Raimi – no stranger to either superhero or horror movies – has entered talks to helm the Doctor Strange sequel. A lot of people have already voiced their whole-hearted support for this development, with Derrickson now officially among them.
John Krasinski Still Wants To Be In The MCU’s Fantastic Four
A Quiet Place Part II director John Krasinski has again stated his interest in playing Mr. Fantastic in the MCU’s future Fantastic Four movie. John Krasinski has renewed his interest in having a role in the next Fantastic Fourfilm. Over the years, studios have struggled to properly bring Marvel’s First Family over to the big screen. While the two Fantastic Four films released in 2005 and 2007 were moderate successes, they weren’t exactly critically-acclaimed. The 2015 reboot directed by Josh Trank, known as Fant4stic, bombed at the box office and was met with derision from fans. Disney’s acquisition of Fox gave fans hope that the Fantastic Four could join the Marvel Cinematic Universe and be given a better film adaptation, and last summer, Marvel head Kevin Feige confirmed an MCU-set Fantastic Four will be coming in the future.
Krasinski is best known for playing Jim Halpert on The Office, though since that show ended its run, his career has flourished. In addition to starring in Amazon’s Jack Ryan, Krasinski showed off his directing skills with 2018’s horror hit A Quiet Place, which he also wrote and starred in with his wife Emily Blunt. He also directed its sequel, A Quiet Place Part II, which will arrive in theaters next month.

While talking to Total Film, Krasinski was asked if he still has any interest in playing Mr. Fantastic in a Fantastic Four movie. Krasinski had previously expressed his desire to take on the role, and he and Blunt have become fans’ top picks to play Reed Richards and Sue Storm in the MCU. Check out Krasinski’s answer below:
You’re like, “Do you have any interest in not shattering people’s dreams”? [Laughs] I would love to be in the Marvel universe. I love those movies because they’re fun, but I also think they’re really well done. And certainly a lot of my friends are in those movies. I have no idea what [Marvel] are thinking. But if they are considering me for Mr. Fantastic, continue to considered me because I would love it.
Krasinski almost found himself in the MCU years ago when he auditioned for the role of Captain America. Instead, the part went to Chris Evans, who ironically had a role in the first two Fantastic Four movies as the Human Torch. Krasinski and Evans recently teamed up for a Hyundai Super Bowl commercial, where they poked fun at their Massachusetts roots. Krasinski has proven himself to be a versatile actor, moving between comedy and action with ease. He would be an excellent pick for the MCU’s Mr. Fantastic, and the fact that he’s so open to the possibility of taking the role is a good sign. Of course, just because fans want Krasinski to be cast doesn’t mean he’ll automatically get it, but Marvel has a good track record when it comes to casting. The next Fantastic Four wasn’t on the official Phase Four slate announced at San Diego Comic-Con last year, suggesting it is still a long ways off. Fans (and Krasinski) will just have to keep hoping for good news.

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)
This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.
You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.
Why do this?
- Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
- Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.
The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.
To help you get started, here are a few questions:
- Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
- What topics do you think you’ll write about?
- Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
- If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?
You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.
Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.
When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
